Elizabeth O’Brien is a board-certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. She received her clinical training and her Master’s in Social Work from the School of Social Work at San Francisco State University in 2005. Elizabeth joined CHA as an Integrated Behavioral Health Specialist in February, 2015.
Elizabeth has an extensive background providing clinical services in both mental health and Community Health Center settings. She spent several years working in rural school systems after obtaining her Pupil Personnel Services Credential, providing clinical as well as drug and alcohol counseling services to adolescents and their families. Most recently, she worked at Marin Community Clinics in San Rafael, where she had provided individual and group behavioral health services since 2011. Currently Elizabeth works closely with CHA’s primary care medical teams to help patients develop and achieve self-management goals for improved health outcomes. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and extensively trained in the techniques of Motivational Interviewing, Problem-Solving Treatment, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Elizabeth feels privileged to be part of the CHA team, providing quality care to patients for both chronic and acute illnesses. She is excited to be working collaboratively to promote wellness, further preventative care, and empower patients taking active steps to manage their health issues.
